Chorisia speciosa is a deciduous tree that can grow to be 50–60 feet tall. It's native to tropical and subtropical forests in Argentina and Brazil. The tree's seeds produce an edible vegetable oil that can also be used industrially. The fruits of the tree contain silky floss, also known as kapok, which can be used for stuffing pillows, mattresses, and upholstery. The bark of the tree can be used to make rope.
