Lagerstroemia indica is commonly known as Crepe Myrtle . It is also called crepe flower. It is a flowering plant in the genus Lagerstroemia of the Lythraceae family. It originated in China. It is a multi-stemmed, deciduous tree.   
There are about 50 species in the genus Lagerstroemia. These plants are found in the Indian subcontinent, Southeast Asia, northern Australia, and other parts of Oceania. They are cultivated in warm climates around the world. These trees are beautifully colored and are often planted as ornamentals.

Scale problems on crepe myrtle bark are more common in western Tennessee.
Crepe myrtle leaves are susceptible to diseases such as leaf spot and powdery mildew.
