Terminalia bellirica is a deciduous tree that grows in India and Southeast Asia. Its fruit is used in Ayurvedic medicine and is a key ingredient in the herbal rasayana treatment triphala. The fruit is also used in a variety of other ways, including:
Herbal eye drops: A preparation of Terminalia bellirica and other ingredients is used to treat ophthalmic disorders like conjunctivitis and cataract surgery
Nosebleeds: Fried seeds are ground into a paste and applied to the forehead
Pruritis: Burnt and powdered seeds are mixed with oil to treat scabies and itching
Nausea and biliousness: Seeds are soaked in a tin vessel overnight and ground with cow's milk
